February 9, 2026

If you’re new here, we are true believers in the power of food and how it brings connection, culture, comfort, creativity, and community. In the workplace, food becomes a natural way to celebrate diversity, spark conversation, and make people feel seen. National food days give teams moments to pause and enjoy an unexpected celebration during the workday.

Maybe you’re the kind of person who only finds out about national food days a day or two late when you’re scrolling on Instagram. Never fear, Fooda is here to make sure you’re prepared this year.

Here’s a month-by-month guide to a handful of the fun national food days in 2026, light celebration ideas for the office, and tips for making each one delicious and inclusive.

The Benefits of Celebrating National Food Days in the Workplace

Celebrating food days at work builds culture and encourages inclusivity. Sharing food helps bring teams together, encourages curiosity about different cuisines, and offers a chance to honor people’s traditions. It can boost morale and employee engagement while giving your catering program a meaningful way to shine.

  • Build community around shared experiences
  • Celebrate diversity through global foods
  • Boost engagement with fun events
  • Support inclusivity with varied menu options
  • Create memorable moments at work

So let’s check out the calendar and see what interesting national food holidays we have to celebrate in 2026.

National Food Days in January

January 1 — National Buffet Day

The good news? Just about anything can be a buffet. The bad news? You’ll have to make a choice on cuisine, which is always tough when the world is your oyster. But this is your opportunity to have fun with it. A fruit with dippable chocolate buffet, a Thai food extravaganza, or a BBQ banquet will all fit the bill for the celebration.

January 15 — National Bagel Day

Host a bagel bar with flavored cream cheeses, smoked salmon, veggies, and spreads. You can even add sweet bagels to the mix which can induce a friendly debate over whether or not bagels are strictly savory or if a blueberry bagel should be part of the big day.

January 30 — National Croissant Day

Little needs to be done other than making sure you have a variety of croissants ready for your team. These flaky pastry treats speak for themselves and having these show up in the kitchen will make everyone’s day.

National Food Days in February

February 3 — National Carrot Cake Day

Bring in carrot cake or carrot muffins for a sweet afternoon pick-me-up. Carrot cake is often overshadowed by flashier cake flavors like chocolate or red velvet but celebrating this deliciously spicy cake at work will certainly pull your team from their desks and into the kitchen for a sweet treat break.

February 9 — National Pizza Day

We love pizza so much we’ve written several blogs about it. You know what to do here but if you need some inspiration here, check out one of our many articles about the best Chicago pizza. If you’re in NYC, we’ve got you covered here, too.

February 22 — National Margarita Day

Margaritas don’t have to have tequila to be delicious. If you are having a midday celebration, mocktails will do the trick. Set up a make-your-own-margarita bar with lots of delicious fruit to add. You can also add some chips, queso, guacamole, and salsa to make it a well-rounded snack time.

National Food Days in March

March 3 — National Moscow Mule Day

Once again, alcohol is optional! Serve ginger beer mocktails with lime and mint alongside light apps.

March 17 — St. Patrick’s Day

Corn beef sliders, Green River Soda, a side of cabbage, and some delicious brown soda bread, and you’ve got a full Irish meal and celebration for your team. The Guinness and the green beer can make an appearance after 5 pm.

Mar 27 — International Whisk(e)y Day

This probably isn’t an event you can get away with making completely alcohol free since the whisk(e)y is the star of the show; however, you can pair it with a charcuterie board to avoid the entire event being focused on the booze.

National Food Days in April

April 2 — National Burrito Day

This is a great opportunity to highlight food from a favorite local Mexican restaurant. Everyone loves a burrito so if you order a wide variety and cut them into smaller pieces, your team can try them all.

April 12 — National Grilled Cheese Day

How about a grilled cheese bar with a couple of panini presses? You can even pair with cups of tomato soup. Make sure you feature a variety of cheese, tomato slices, and some fig spread so everyone can make their sandwich their own.

April 26 — National Pretzel Day

Soft or hard pretzels, cheese dip, buttery garlic sauce, or chocolate and candy pieces. The possibilities are endless. A pretzel bar is a classic, and if you’ve ever seen that one episode of The Office, you know how seriously people take pretzel day.

National Food Days in May

May 2 — National Truffles Day

No need to break the bank on this one by spending thousands of dollars on fancy shaved truffles. You can buy a handful of different truffle flavored snacks like chips and popcorn. Or you can focus on chocolate truffles and bring in the sweet treats.

May 10 — National Shrimp Day

There’s a number of ways to celebrate these yummy crustaceans. You can go fancy and set up a shrimp cocktail bar. You can also bring in a mid-afternoon snack of shrimp fried rice. The shrimp possibilities are endless!

May 28 — National Burger Day

This national food day is a favorite and a slam dunk at the office. You can switch it up by ordering from two different burger restaurants and having your team vote on a winner. Don’t forget to get vegan options for your plant-based colleagues so they don’t miss out on the fun.

National Food Days in June

June 1 — World Milk Day

This is one where you can get a little creative. You can celebrate milk with an ice cream bar with a variety of cow’s milk and plant-based milk options. You can also create a make-your-own-smoothie station with some yummy fresh or frozen fruit and some regular and plant-based milks.

June 10 — National Iced Tea Day

Everyone loves an iced tea in the heat of the summer. You can prepare different kinds of teas like, black, green, hibiscus, etc. Your team can add mint, honey, and some fresh fruit. Round out the party with some light apps and you’ve got yourself a delightfully refreshing time.

June 22 — National Onion Rings Day

You can order lunch and make sure a side of onion rings are the big feature. Or you could order a variety of different onion rings and have your team vote for their favorites. This will no doubt spark a healthy debate and bring the team together over some crispy bites.

National Food Days in July

July 3 — Eat Beans Day

There are an infinite number of beans you can showcase on a day like today. There’s green beans, baked beans, Boston baked beans, or even candy beans. You can feature a delicious bean salad with your catered lunch or have bowls of candy beans around the office for an afternoon sugar rush.

July 6 — National Fried Chicken Day

There is no wrong way to celebrate fried chicken. In fact, the only wrongdoing would be not to celebrate it at all. Just remember to order gluten-free and plant-based options so no one has to miss out.

July 24 — National Ice Cream Day

Partnering with a local ice cream shop for a variety of pints will heighten the joy factor in the office on this warm July day. Again, make sure you include some vegan options so everyone can cool down and celebrate together.

National Food Days in August

August 4 — National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day

Sometimes the best chocolate cookies are around the corner at a local bakery. Round it out with some milk and fun toppings (accounting for all dietary restrictions), and you’ll be everyone’s hero for the day.

August 18 — National Fajita Day

Fajitas for lunch. Enough said. You could also turn it into a happy hour, adding some margaritas and Coronas, and watch your team assemble and bond.

August 19 — National Hot & Spicy Day

Many tropical places say hot and spicy food actually helps you cool down, which is why we suspect this day falls toward the end of August. There are so many cultures you can celebrate here, just remember to have a variety of spice levels available for those who can’t handle too much heat.

National Food Days in September

September 16 — National Guacamole Day

Today, guacamole is not extra. It’s the star of the show. We suggest a make-your-own-guacamole bar with a variety of ingredients and spices to add. Of course, tortilla chips are the obvious dippers, but don’t be afraid to add some crudite to the mix as well.

September 25 — National Lobster Day

This might sound a little fancy for your budget but there are some affordable options, such as lobster rolls and lobster mac and cheese.

September 29 — National Coffee Day

There are many things you can do to celebrate coffee. You could even invite a local roaster to lead a coffee tasting with your team. You can also create a coffee bar with different kinds of milks, syrups, and other toppings to add some sweetness to everyone’s caffeine fix.

National Food Days in October

October 1 — National Vegetarian Day

Celebrate your meat-free friends with an entire day of plant-based delicacies. You can call in catering from local vegan and vegetarian restaurants and demonstrate how delicious dishes can be without meat.

October 6 — National Noodle Day

Pasta, ramen, pho, lo mein, oh my! Pick your poison and no matter what, your team will be happy. Noodles are present in nearly every cuisine for a reason.

National Food Days in November

November 3 — National Sandwich Day

When it comes to American lunch time, sandwiches are one of the first things that come to mind. Order lunch from a local bakery that makes its own bread.

November 6 — National Nachos Day

We love nacho stations! The toppings are endless, and the cheese is melty. Make sure to include plant-based cheese sauce and black olives so your team can debate whether they belong on nachos or not.

November 14 — National Pickle Day

Sweet, dill, spicy, bread, and butter. You can have a standalone pickle bar or pair it with some catered sandwiches, so your team can pair the perfect pickle with their lunch.

National Food Days in December

December 8 — National Brownie Day

December is all about the holidays and the holidays are all about indulging in delicious food. A warm brownie bar with some ice cream would cure the winter blues and pull your team out of their end-of-the-year slump.

December 9 — National Pastry Day

Bringing in a variety of pastries for a team breakfast will put a pep in your team’s step. There isn’t anything that a raspberry cheese danish can’t cure.
