If you’re new here, we are true believers in the power of food and how it brings connection, culture, comfort, creativity, and community. In the workplace, food becomes a natural way to celebrate diversity, spark conversation, and make people feel seen. National food days give teams moments to pause and enjoy an unexpected celebration during the workday.

Maybe you’re the kind of person who only finds out about national food days a day or two late when you’re scrolling on Instagram. Never fear, Fooda is here to make sure you’re prepared this year.

Here’s a month-by-month guide to a handful of the fun national food days in 2026, light celebration ideas for the office, and tips for making each one delicious and inclusive.

The Benefits of Celebrating National Food Days in the Workplace

Celebrating food days at work builds culture and encourages inclusivity. Sharing food helps bring teams together, encourages curiosity about different cuisines, and offers a chance to honor people’s traditions. It can boost morale and employee engagement while giving your catering program a meaningful way to shine.

  • Build community around shared experiences
  • Celebrate diversity through global foods
  • Boost engagement with fun events
  • Support inclusivity with varied menu options
  • Create memorable moments at work

So let’s check out the calendar and see what interesting national food holidays we have to celebrate in 2026.

National Food Days in January

January 1 — National Buffet Day

The good news? Just about anything can be a buffet. The bad news? You’ll have to make a choice on cuisine, which is always tough when the world is your oyster. But this is your opportunity to have fun with it. A fruit with dippable chocolate buffet, a Thai food extravaganza, or a BBQ banquet will all fit the bill for the celebration.

January 15 — National Bagel Day

Host a bagel bar with flavored cream cheeses, smoked salmon, veggies, and spreads. You can even add sweet bagels to the mix which can induce a friendly debate over whether or not bagels are strictly savory or if a blueberry bagel should be part of the big day.

January 30 — National Croissant Day

Little needs to be done other than making sure you have a variety of croissants ready for your team. These flaky pastry treats speak for themselves and having these show up in the kitchen will make everyone’s day.

National Food Days in February

February 3 — National Carrot Cake Day

Bring in carrot cake or carrot muffins for a sweet afternoon pick-me-up. Carrot cake is often overshadowed by flashier cake flavors like chocolate or red velvet but celebrating this deliciously spicy cake at work will certainly pull your team from their desks and into the kitchen for a sweet treat break.

February 9 — National Pizza Day

We love pizza so much we’ve written several blogs about it. You know what to do here but if you need some inspiration here, check out one of our many articles about the best Chicago pizza. If you’re in NYC, we’ve got you covered here, too.

February 22 — National Margarita Day

Margaritas don’t have to have tequila to be delicious. If you are having a midday celebration, mocktails will do the trick. Set up a make-your-own-margarita bar with lots of delicious fruit to add. You can also add some chips, queso, guacamole, and salsa to make it a well-rounded snack time.

National Food Days in March

March 3 — National Moscow Mule Day

Once again, alcohol is optional! Serve ginger beer mocktails with lime and mint alongside light apps.

March 17 — St. Patrick’s Day

Corn beef sliders, Green River Soda, a side of cabbage, and some delicious brown soda bread, and you’ve got a full Irish meal and celebration for your team. The Guinness and the green beer can make an appearance after 5 pm.

March 27 — International Whisk(e)y Day

This probably isn’t an event you can get away with making completely alcohol free since the whisk(e)y is the star of the show; however, you can pair it with a charcuterie board to avoid the entire event being focused on the booze.

National Food Days in April

April 2 — National Burrito Day

This is a great opportunity to highlight food from a favorite local Mexican restaurant. Everyone loves a burrito so if you order a wide variety and cut them into smaller pieces, your team can try them all.

April 12 — National Grilled Cheese Day

How about a grilled cheese bar with a couple of panini presses? You can even pair with cups of tomato soup. Make sure you feature a variety of cheese, tomato slices, and some fig spread so everyone can make their sandwich their own.

April 16 — National Eggs Benedict Day

There's something about a perfectly poached egg and hollandaise that makes you feel like you're brunching on a Sunday even if it's a random Thursday. Bring in eggs benedict from a local brunch spot and watch your team light up. Bonus points if you include a veggie or smoked salmon option alongside the classic Canadian bacon.

April 21 — National Tea Day

Tea doesn't get the love it deserves compared to coffee, and today's the day to change that. Set up a tea tasting station with a variety of loose leaf options, honey, and some light pastries on the side. It's a low-key celebration that brings a nice calm energy to the afternoon.

April 26 — National Pretzel Day

Soft or hard pretzels, cheese dip, buttery garlic sauce, or chocolate and candy pieces. The possibilities are endless. A pretzel bar is a classic, and if you’ve ever seen that one episode of The Office, you know how seriously people take pretzel day.

April 30 — National Oatmeal Cookie Day

Oatmeal cookies are the underdog of the cookie world and they deserve their moment. Bring in a batch from a local bakery and let your team debate whether raisins belong in them or not. Spoiler: it will get heated.

National Food Days in May

May 2 — National Truffles Day

No need to break the bank on this one by spending thousands of dollars on fancy shaved truffles. You can buy a handful of different truffle flavored snacks like chips and popcorn. Or you can focus on chocolate truffles and bring in the sweet treats.

May 10 — National Shrimp Day

There’s a number of ways to celebrate these yummy crustaceans. You can go fancy and set up a shrimp cocktail bar. You can also bring in a mid-afternoon snack of shrimp fried rice. The shrimp possibilities are endless!

May 13 — National Apple Pie Day

Few things are more American than apple pie, and few things are easier to celebrate at work. Bring in a couple pies from a local bakery, add a scoop of vanilla ice cream, and you've got yourself a midday morale booster that'll have people coming back for seconds.

May 25 — National BBQ Week

An entire week dedicated to BBQ means you have no excuse not to go all out. Bring in pulled pork, brisket, ribs, or whatever your local BBQ joint does best and let the sauce fly. Just make sure to stock up on napkins, this one tends to get messy.

May 28 — National Burger Day

This national food day is a favorite and a slam dunk at the office. You can switch it up by ordering from two different burger restaurants and having your team vote on a winner. Don’t forget to get vegan options for your plant-based colleagues so they don’t miss out on the fun.

May 31 — National Macaroon Day

Whether you prefer the coconut-based American macaroon or the French macaron, today is the day to celebrate both. Bring in a colorful assortment and let your team discover new flavors. These bite-sized treats are perfect for a mid-afternoon sugar fix.

National Food Days in June

June 1 — World Milk Day

This is one where you can get a little creative. You can celebrate milk with an ice cream bar with a variety of cow’s milk and plant-based milk options. You can also create a make-your-own-smoothie station with some yummy fresh or frozen fruit and some regular and plant-based milks.

June 5 — National Donut Day

This one has deep roots, it actually started in Chicago as a tribute to the Salvation Army volunteers who served donuts to soldiers in World War I. Bring in a spread from a local donut shop and make sure you've got a good mix of glazed, filled, and cake donuts.

June 10 — National Iced Tea Day

Everyone loves an iced tea in the heat of the summer. You can prepare different kinds of teas like, black, green, hibiscus, etc. Your team can add mint, honey, and some fresh fruit. Round out the party with some light apps and you’ve got yourself a delightfully refreshing time.

June 22 — National Onion Rings Day

You can order lunch and make sure a side of onion rings are the big feature. Or you could order a variety of different onion rings and have your team vote for their favorites. This will no doubt spark a healthy debate and bring the team together over some crispy bites.

June 23  — National Detroit Style Pizza Day

If you haven't had Detroit-style pizza, you're missing out on one of the best regional styles in the country. Thick, airy crust with crispy cheese edges and sauce on top - it's a beautiful thing. Order a few pans and introduce your team to their new favorite slice.

National Food Days in July

July 3 — Eat Beans Day

There are an infinite number of beans you can showcase on a day like today. There’s green beans, baked beans, Boston baked beans, or even candy beans. You can feature a delicious bean salad with your catered lunch or have bowls of candy beans around the office for an afternoon sugar rush.

July 6 — National Fried Chicken Day

There is no wrong way to celebrate fried chicken. In fact, the only wrongdoing would be not to celebrate it at all. Just remember to order gluten-free and plant-based options so no one has to miss out.

July 10 — National French Fry Day

Fries are the ultimate crowd-pleaser and there's really no way to mess this one up. Order a variety of styles—classic, waffle, curly, sweet potato—and set up a dipping sauce bar with ketchup, aioli, ranch, and whatever else your team craves. This is a lunch add-on that'll steal the show.

July 14 — National Mac and Cheese Day

Mac and cheese is comfort food at its finest, and this is one of those days where everyone will actually leave their desk for the kitchen. Order a few different styles—classic, truffle, buffalo chicken, you name it—and let the team vote on a winner.

July 18 — National Caviar Day

This one sounds fancy but it doesn't have to break the budget. You can set up a small tasting with affordable caviar options alongside some blinis and crème fraîche. It's a fun excuse to bring a little luxury into the workday without going overboard.

July 24 — National Ice Cream Day

Partnering with a local ice cream shop for a variety of pints will heighten the joy factor in the office on this warm July day. Again, make sure you include some vegan options so everyone can cool down and celebrate together.

July 29 — National Chicken Wing Day

Wings are one of the most universally loved foods out there, so expect this one to be a hit. Order a variety of flavors: buffalo, garlic parm, lemon pepper, and BBQ. Then sit back and watch your team debate which sauce reigns supreme. Just make sure to have plenty of wet wipes on hand.

National Food Days in August

August 4 — National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day

Sometimes the best chocolate cookies are around the corner at a local bakery. Round it out with some milk and fun toppings (accounting for all dietary restrictions), and you’ll be everyone’s hero for the day.

August 8 — National Mochi Day

Mochi is a fun and unique treat that a lot of people haven't tried, which makes this a great opportunity to introduce something new to the team. Grab a variety of mochi ice cream flavors and watch people get hooked. It's light, refreshing, and perfect for a hot August afternoon.

August 10 — National S'mores Day

You don't need a campfire to make s'mores happen at the office. Set up a s'mores station with graham crackers, marshmallows, and chocolate, and use a small tabletop burner or even a microwave to get that melty goodness going. It's nostalgic, it's fun, and it's guaranteed to bring the team together.

August 18 — National Fajita Day

Fajitas for lunch. Enough said. You could also turn it into a happy hour, adding some margaritas and Coronas, and watch your team assemble and bond.

August 19 — National Hot & Spicy Day

Many tropical places say hot and spicy food actually helps you cool down, which is why we suspect this day falls toward the end of August. There are so many cultures you can celebrate here, just remember to have a variety of spice levels available for those who can’t handle too much heat.

August 24 — National Waffle Day

Bring in a couple of waffle makers and set up a toppings bar with fruit, whipped cream, Nutella, syrup, and whatever else your team is into. Whether people go sweet or savory, waffles have a way of making any day feel like a weekend.

National Food Days in September

September 1 — National Tofu Day

Tofu gets a bad rap, but when it's prepared well, it's incredible. This is a great day to bring in dishes from local Thai, Korean, or Chinese restaurants that know how to make tofu shine. Your plant-based team members will feel seen, and you might just convert a few skeptics.

September 5 — National Cheese Pizza Day

Sometimes simple is best. A classic cheese pizza needs no toppings to be delicious, and today is the day to prove it. Order from a few different spots and let your team crown the best plain slice in town.

September 12 — National Chocolate Milkshake Day

ew things hit like a cold chocolate milkshake in the middle of the workday. Partner with a local ice cream shop or diner for a batch of thick, creamy shakes and you'll instantly become the most popular person in the office.

September 16 — National Guacamole Day

Today, guacamole is not extra. It’s the star of the show. We suggest a make-your-own-guacamole bar with a variety of ingredients and spices to add. Of course, tortilla chips are the obvious dippers, but don’t be afraid to add some crudite to the mix as well.

September 20 — National Fried Rice Day

Fried rice is one of those dishes that's endlessly customizable and universally delicious. Order a few different varieties: chicken, shrimp, veggie, or kimchi from a local spot and let your team mix and match. It's an easy win for lunch.

September 25 — National Quesadilla Day

Quesadillas are simple, satisfying, and easy to customize for just about every dietary preference. Set up a build-your-own station with different cheeses, proteins, veggies, and salsas. It's interactive, it's delicious, and it practically runs itself.

October 12 — National Pulled Pork Day

November 3 — National Sandwich Day

When it comes to American lunch time, sandwiches are one of the first things that come to mind. Order lunch from a local bakery that makes its own bread.

November 6 — National Nachos Day

We love nacho stations! The toppings are endless, and the cheese is melty. Make sure to include plant-based cheese sauce and black olives so your team can debate whether they belong on nachos or not.

November 12 — National French Dip Day

A hot French dip sandwich with a side of au jus for dunking is one of the most satisfying lunches out there. Order from a local deli or sandwich shop and let your team enjoy a warm, hearty meal on a chilly November day.

November 14 — National Pickle Day

Sweet, dill, spicy, bread, and butter. You can have a standalone pickle bar or pair it with some catered sandwiches, so your team can pair the perfect pickle with their lunch.

November 20 — National Peanut Butter Fudge Day

Peanut butter fudge is rich, sweet, and dangerously easy to eat way too much of. Bring in a tray from a local candy shop or bakery and cut it into small squares for an afternoon treat. A little goes a long way with this one.

December is all about the holidays and the holidays are all about indulging in delicious food. A warm brownie bar with some ice cream would cure the winter blues and pull your team out of their end-of-the-year slump.

December 9 — National Pastry Day

Bringing in a variety of pastries for a team breakfast will put a pep in your team’s step. There isn’t anything that a raspberry cheese danish can’t cure.

December 16 — National Chocolate Covered Anything Day

This might be one of the most fun food days on the calendar. Set up a chocolate fountain or a dipping station with pretzels, strawberries, marshmallows, and whatever else your team wants to dunk. It's messy, it's indulgent, and everyone will love it.
