New Fooda Price Index draws on millions of transactions across 270 cities as the cost of lunch at work rises approximately 5% year over year
Chicago, IL (May 12, 2026) – Fooda (“the Company”), a workplace food platform, today announced the launch of the Fooda Price Index (FPI). The FPI tracks the price of lunch and offers historical and current insight into a workplace cost that impacts millions of workers.
The FPI is calculated by reviewing the average price paid by consumers at checkout for meals at their workplaces across 270 cities. The data comes from Fooda’s proprietary point-of-sale application and includes both credit card and cash transactions. The index is calculated by dividing total transaction value by the total number of transactions and is updated quarterly.
“As more employees return to the office, employers and restaurant partners seek reliable benchmarks,” said Orazio Buzza, Founder and CEO of Fooda. “The FPI provides our restaurant partners and clients with a simple, comparable measure of how workplace meal prices are changing over time and helps inform pricing and menu decisions. Based on recent FPI data, workplace meals are up approximately 5% year-over-year, and we expect this trend to continue in 2026.”
