Single Best Lunch: Buzy Burrito

6829 Peachtree Industrial Boulevard

At Buzy Burrito Nino and his brothers cook authentic Mexican dishes that their Mama Julia taught them how to make. Traditional recipes fill the menu but there’s a fair amount of culinary innovation here as well. Take the Molcajete, short ribs, shrimp, chicken, and chorizo on a bed of peppers and onions topped with a drizzle of cheese, which the family describes as “fajitas on steroids.” It’s no wonder Buzy Burrito is a repeat Best of Fooda winner (Best Mexican 2017) with homemade salsas prepared fresh every day and a mouthwatering selection of tacos, nachos, and burritos filled with veggies, al pastor, pollo, carne asada, and chorizo.

Best BBQ: DBA BBQ

1190 North Highland Avenue NE

At D.B.A BBQ the Coggins family leads an allstar crew serving up lunches of brisket, pulled pork, and other Southern comfort fare. All meats are smoked and cured in-house and sides such as baked beans and potato salad are made fresh everyday from scratch. Pro tip: top that pulled pork sandwich with mac and cheese and you’ve got the customer favorite they call the Archie Bunker.

Best American: Flying Biscuit

flyingbiscuit.com

No stranger to the Best of Fooda list, Flying Biscuit was named Best Southern Lunch in 2017 and now it’s back to take the crown of Best American. It’s no surprise that Flying Biscuit biscuits are a crowd pleaser, but regulars also rave about the Blackened Shrimp and Grits served with a housemade tomato sauce as well as their rich chocolate bread pudding topped with a honey crème anglaise.

Best Asian: 26 Thai Kitchen

541 Main Street NE

Owning a restaurant is a dream come true for Chef Niki Pattharakositkul who grew up in Thailand learning to cook alongside her mother. There she learned the importance of working with fresh, seasonal ingredients. At 26 Thai Kitchen, she and her team prepare MSG-free and authentic Thai curries and noodle dishes from scratch.
