Founded in Chicago in 2007, Sugar Bliss is a bakery that specializes in all things sweet. A Fooda partner since 2026, this bakery helps spread good energy and sweet treats across Chicago to visitors and local employees alike.

Teresa Ging, the founder and CEO of Sugar Bliss, left a career in finance to pursue her true passion of baking. After studying in Paris at the world-renowned Le Cordon Bleu, Ging opened Sugar Bliss as a catering and delivery business. By January of 2009, Ging had opened the first retail location of Sugar Bliss in downtown Chicago.
The original catering and delivery version of Sugar Bliss featured 20 cupcake flavors. Since then, the menu at Sugar Bliss has kept expanding and now includes plenty of other baked goods like brownies, cookies, morning pastries, and cake pops. The bakery also offers gluten-free and vegan options, ensuring everyone can enjoy a sweet treat.
While cupcakes are their specialty, after 19 years of experience, Sugar Bliss has also perfected other classic bakery staples. Beyond traditional offerings, Teresa and her team also like to experiment with seasonal flavors like cotton candy for summer or peanut butter and jelly for back to school time. Much like how Fooda works, the bakery embraces rotating flavors. Incorporating a regular menu rotation helps keep things fresh and reaches wider audiences with different flavors.
Alongside serving delicious baked goods, the entrepreneurship exemplified by Sugar Bliss has not gone unnoticed. Ging has been recognized numerous times for her entrepreneurial leadership. Her awards include:
She also received an invitation from President Obama to the signing of the White House Council on Women & Girls. Ging continues to give back as a Board Member of the Asian American Chamber of Commerce of Illinois and Advisory Board member of the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce (SBDC).

In addition to entrepreneurship, Sugar Bliss also stands out for their commitment to quality. Everything in the bakery is made on-site and from scratch, and they use high quality, natural ingredients you can taste. From European cocoa to Nielsen Massey vanilla extract, Sugar Bliss prides itself on using premium ingredients in order to serve guests the best baked goods possible.
While Sugar Bliss may use top-notch baking techniques and ingredients from around the world, their inspiration comes from the Chicago community. “A lot of our inspiration comes from our community. We love partnering with other women-owned brands to uplift one another and dream up new flavors together,” said Rachel Gantt, the marketing coordinator at Sugar Bliss.
From margarita cupcakes made in collaboration with a woman-owned tequila brand to mango lassi cookies created with a Southeast Asian woman-owned bakery, Sugar Bliss is intentional about their involvement within the community. Gantt said they look to the community not only to find inspiration, but to also find ways to celebrate what matters to the people within the community. Whether it’s rainbow-themed treats for Pride month, Asian-inspired treats for AAPI Heritage month, or plant-themed sweets for Earth Day, Sugar Bliss wants to make sure the community has a place where they can celebrate important moments with delicious baked goods.
“Inspiration, for us, is really about connection, finding sweet ways to celebrate the people and moments that make our community special,” Gantt said.
Another way that Sugar Bliss connects with the community is through their sweets carts. You can catch Sugar Bliss and their Bears-themed treats at every home game beginning in September.
As for what else is in store for the future of Sugar Bliss, the team is planning on opening a new commissary space this fall.
